Two bikes to ride from Dakar to Europe in November (for free)
Anyone interested in a spontaneous trip of the lifetime? You would need to get one-way tickets to Dakar (should be ~300 GBP from anywhere in Europe), we'll hand over two bikes to ride through Sahara back to Spain (or further up if you like). A 2004 KTM 640 and 2001 DR650 in Sahara setup.
It just seems to be silly to go through the fuss of shipping the bikes back, when someone could get the joy of tripping up through the Sahara - this is what these bikes were made for!

might be interested in riding the KTM (sorry DR second choice) back. Have ridden someone's 1150GS back from Mali in Jan, seems there might be a business here...
will send you a PM
cheers,

I'll do the DR650.
Are you are covering the insurance and visa costs from the savings on the shipping?
Is there camping gear with the bikes, spares etc, and I presume they are in serviceable condition with good tires, chains, etc?

joyride
We could do the insurance, as we're coming through the same countries a month earlier. The bikes should be in riding condinition and have the necessary spares, at least the ones we did not use on the way down. Some camping gear may be possible (one to share between bikes). Both will have Pirelli MT21, I would expect that the DR might need a new rear tyre for the way back. KTM should be fine.
Aiming to hand the bikes over to you on the 10th November in Dakar. Happy to receive them either in Spain, France or most preferably the UK. Northern Spain would be a very good option.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
