Tyres - Ghana/Togo/Benin
I'm thinking i might need a new rear tyre for my bike! Ideally around Ghana, Togo or Benin.
I know of the KTM dealer in Togo (credit wanted) but was hoping for other options. Anybody know a place
I'm on a bmw f650gs dakar (2004)
Rear tyre is 130/80-17
If the price was right, I'd do a front too. I'm carrying spare tubes so this isn't a problem. Just the tyres.
Cheers

I would just give them a call. They weren't responsive to email when I rode through Togo (8 years ago) so I gave them a call... on the phone they were very helpful and got me sorted out no sweat. And after the phone call, they did start replying to email.

I was in their stockroom today (Togo Toni, Lome) and they had a few tyres but sadly none for me - r1150 GS rear tyre.

Simon, based on your inspection of the facilities, do you think it would be realistic to get them to order in a tyre in advance for me by phone... possibly by someone like myself considering je ne peux pas parler français?
I also have a fairly rare rear size and wouldn't bet on it being in stock.

Yes, they can order all tires for you if you let them know on advance. I think his number or email is on ioverlander so good to contact. Also a good place to get some chain oil if needed, hard to find elsewhere.

Let me know how you get on because Didier wasn’t very enthusiastic when I asked about ordering a tyre!

Will do. Worst case I’d look to get one shipped to myself in advance c/o his address and fix him up for a bit of storage fees.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
