Tyres in Windhoek

Does anyone have any up to date info regarding where I can purchase tyres (21" & 17") in Windhoek? (GPS Co-ords or addresses)

Regards
Ben

Don't have any addresses for you, but Windhoek has Suzuki, Yamaha and KTM shops, plus a generic off-road bike and ATV dealer. No problems finding tires in town...

I second that emotion. I picked up a new rear tire at BMW Windhoek as well. Very nice folks indeed. Stop by Joe's house and I hope you're lucky enough to meet Dio. He might be on a BMW 1200 with a zebra paint job. GREAT guy born in Angola. Safe trip. H.

Thanks Guys

Thanks for the info - Just starting to put everything together for my trip next Feb.

Rough plan is to arrive Jo'burg Feb 7th - Sani pass to CT and Windhoek then up the East coast to London for the June HU meeting. I was going to take tyres with me, but think that I will just get them along the way in Windhoek Nairobi and Turkey.

Just one further query - Visa's. I plan to pick up Kenyan Ethiopian and Egyptian visas in Dar es Salaam and a Sudanese visa in Nairobi. What is the general concensus on this? I understand that countries prior to these after SA are all 'at the border' type - have I got this right?

Kind regards Ben.

Hi!

Have a look on Claudio Angelini . He was on the eastcoast this year same direction.

He can tell you where he got which visa!

You can get Kenyan visa at border.
In Nairobi, you must get your Ethiopian visa before heading up to Ethiopia.
I'm not sure if you can get a Sudanese visa in Nairobi - border areas accessible from Kenya are closed/restricted I believe. So you have to take your chance, go to Addis Ababa and first get your Egyptian visa, then head over to the Sudanese consulate and acquire the 14day transit visa. That's what's worked for a number of recent posters, myself included.

BTW - there's a BMW car/bike dealer in Windhoek - they had 21 and 17 inch tires last time I was there.

Plans changed

Quastdog,
Thanks for the info on the visas. I'll adopt what you suggest with the Sudanese & Egyptian visas in Addis. Cheers Ben.
