Visa - (South-)West + Central Africa
Currently, we are in Kenya on our overland trip to Cape Town.
We would very much like to drive back to Europe via the "other side", i.e. Angola, DRC, Congo, Gabon, Cameroon and "West-Africa" (maybe avoiding Mali). Probably we will start driving back at the end of October.
I am looking for recent information about the necessary visa from overlanders who did the same route up to Europe. More in particular, I would be pleased if someone could tell me if certain visa are difficult to obtain and in such case, where I could obtain those visa (which cities/borders/help from agencies/etc.).
Thanks a lot in advance!

Hi Geert,
Thanks for the information. However, I would like to stress that I am in particular interested in information from people going north from south (western route), as this may differ a lot, strangely enough.
We have been waiting for about a week in Aswan for the ferry to Wadi Halfa. We met 2 other couples and shared a (private) barge for about EUR 2,500. The Egyptians are shockingly keen in ripping you of, and there is no choice. Getting in an out of Egypt is a financial nightmare.
We did not drive Moyale-Marsabit, but the Lake Turkana route. Absolutely magnificent and the route is just fine if you expect a horrible road. We did it together with another car, just to be safe in case our car would break down (but did not even have a puncture).

Hi,
To get the Visa for Angola was the hardest part for me. Everything else will be managable and may ba Mali is ok again by the time you will be there...

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
