West coast - Several steps

Hi everyone,

I'm Luca from Italy and I'm thinking to bring my car ('86 G-wagen) in South Africa, but the time available between work and family (I'm father of two baby girls) unfortunately does not allow me to travel as long as I did years ago.

The idea is to face the journey in several steps, leaving the car from time to time and to return to take it a few months later and continue to the next step.

The program would be those starting in February for the first stage (a bit quickly unfortunately - 15 days) Morocco to Guinea and leave the car at Sukuta camping, as did by other travelers on the forum.

I would like some more information from those who have already made the trip on what documents are needed to leave the car parked, in Guinea it is necessary a CdP?

I would also like to talk about the routes that I have in mind in the various countries to be crossed, so as to have your own opinion.

Thanks in advance.

Luca

Luca

I wrote a blog on UKGSer.com from which you can follow my travel (on a Moto) as far as Cameroon, if that would help you?

It is called ‘Gael warnings in West Africa’

Update: I’ll be in Morocco february 10th driving south to Gambia.

I’ll not be with the car but with my bike (F 800 GS), if someone will be on the same way in that period it could be nice to do some road togheter.

Another questions, any suggestion where to stay in Mauritania?

Cheers

I'm in the region regularly and live part time in CI ... Lots of visa changes etc going on at the moment, so you'll need to keep your ear to the ground. I post regular updates on West Africa Travellers and have helped and hosted several people from HUBB

It's a fantastic region of Africa, have fun!

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
