TS185 no spark
Hello all,
First time rider, first time poster, pretty new with all this stuff. I bought a '73 TS185 last summer for $150 from a guy I work on the farm with, and it ran alright when I bought it but after a few weeks stopped getting spark.
Here is some info that I think might be useful... There is no battery. I used a multimeter to check the ignition switch and the continuity from the CDI to the ignition coil, and they seem fine. When I put my thumb on the wire going into the ignition coil and kick the starter, I get a little zap, so I know there's some heat going into it. But where the ignition coil connects to the spark plug there is a much, much weaker zap. So I replaced the ignition coil and spark plug but still no spark.
I have spent a lot of time trying to learn about working on the bike, but this electrical issue seems beyond my grasp. I am really not sure what to do. Any advice or guiding words?
Thanks,
Chris

Double Check
Hi
This sort of fault can be a right pain, if at all possable start over again dont give up, if you can try working back, replacing the plug and coil even if you have power there because it could be breaking down under load. double check evey thing. All so check the ignition switch make sure there is not a lose wire going to earth in it. rectifers can be a problem some times they give a good reading but when under load they break down.
As i said dont give up you will find it in the end and it will prbably be somthing simple. I hope its of help Skip
