If you are going travelling I would buy a couple, a spare is always handy.

I am riding from the UK to South Africa.

I was going to fit the Heavy Duty inners before I left, take my existing normal tubes as spares and then 2x punchture repair kits.

?

I wouldn't bring 2nd hand tubes, get 4 new x HD tubes and Puncture kits.
If you are getting punctured then you might as well fit another HD tube instead of a lightweight one which may get a puncture more easily.
Keep the old tubes for when you get back to civilisation.

Yep, no worries. My DR650 has 120/90-17 size tyres as well and these tubes fitted fine. Had no trouble with them so far, so yeah, I'd recommend them.

Thanks guys.

Ive bought 2 pairs of HD tubes.

Fitted the front wheel tube last night....was a swine.....punctured the standard tube I was removing, fitted the HD ok after some swearing and wishing I had smaller hands and wishing HD tubes were thinner.

NOT looking forward to changing my tyres from road to offroad once I hit the dirt tracks......fingers crossed I dont nip a hole in the HD trying to get the tyre off.

Anyway, only 2nd time Ive removed a wheel and tyre.......still learning

Tube fitting.

Check out the motion pro T6 tyre levers!
The one model has a small lip on the end that stops it slipping in use and is a revelation to use.
The best I have used BY FAR!
They have a built in ring spanner at the other end.
Just choose the size for your wheel nut.
Soapy water helps too.
Dave.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
