Bullet point -- from India
There is, sometimes, discussion in the HUBB about the bikes that are coming our way (we being the western world in general) from China.
Not so much, methinks, about the bikes that are marketed in India.
Here's a website, from which I learnt that Tiger Woods is the global ambassador for Hero motorcycles, really.
Two Wheelers News | Bike Reviews and Comparision | Two wheelers News India - Drivespark
Of more interest, it says that Royal Enfield will make a 400cc "adventure" bike; some people might say that riding a RE is already an adventure.
Royal Enfield Coming Up With An Adventure Tourer? - DriveSpark
Pricing of a new model of what amounts to a revised 350cc engine could be interesting, alongside the current 500cc range.

I'm sure it'll look better in the flesh

Your description sounds like this fugly bug:-
Royal Enfield Himalayan adventure motorcycle - Rendering
Fortunately, that website freely admits that their pic is a "rendering".
I quite like this view of a possible future:-
Royal Enfield developing 385cc adventure bike - Indian Cars Bikes
With Terblanche as the newish chief designer at RE the bike should look more like the latter than the former.
There is also speculation that RE may have plans for a larger capacity twin cyl engine.
ps Quite coincidentally, but the news of today says that Tiger W is standing down, or some such phrase, from playing golf - perhaps Hero will pay him a better income for being their global mascot?

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
