Fairbanks, tyres and the Dalton
We're headed for Prudhoe, been riding since Ushuaia. Somewhere I read that there's a bike shop in Fairbanks that will fit you some suitable tyres for the Dalton and on your return they take them off and put your own tyres back on (for a charge). Can't find it anywhere now. Can anyone help?
Will also need a motor oil and filter change. BMW GSA (2010)
Thanks folks.

Good folks there at Adventure Cycleworks. They will get you set up with new tires quickly and seem to be open all hours of the day and night even though they are a small shop working out of a home garage. They can do many types of maintainance like oil changes. They will even store your extra stuff to lighten your load up the Dalton and wash the calcium chloride off your bike when you get back.
When I was up there a couple of years ago Dan told me that they realize that Alaska is often a once in a lifetime trip and people have limited vacation time so they don't want people to sit around for a long time waiting for service.
Just good folks!

Thanks
Thanks mpenner. The word on the street seems to be Dan at Cycleworks (even got it off a guy outside our motel in Glennallen yesterday so must be good).
Cheers all.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
