Long lasting tyres!
Hi,
I am soooo fed up of looking and reading reviews or tyres... Could anyone recommend a long lasting tyres for me?
Next year I am riding UK to Vladivostok, for European part I was hoping to use touring style tyres that will last a long time on the road and then when I get into Kazakhstan il change to something like the K60 scout. But then alot of reviews say they split and tear.. my weapon of choice is a XLR 250, its a XR250 with slightly longer gear range and is faster on road. So whatever it is it should last not having to much weight or HP ?! Also I like off roading!
Cheers! Ian

Long lasting tyres!
On a 250 you can make it all the way on one set! The heidenaus will last, you are not racing.... Also consider Mitas, we used two sets E09 (a bit knobby) first set lasted 26.000 km (they where a little bold...) second set 15.000 km (due to mostly riding gravelroads). Even longer lasting is the E07, after 22.000 km the front tires where almost gone, but the rear was just over half worn.
We got cracks, splits and sometimes tears in all tires we used during our 115.000 km trip, the heidenaus and Mitas less than others. Dont worry about stories on the internet.
Edit, we are riding 250's as well.
Cheers,
Peter

pirelli MT60,
see if you can fit 130 width rather than the std 120's at the back; an extra bit of rubber at the back may help....
Sahara 3 don't last as long..
