Bought my Bike

So three days ago I went to a local bike shop to look at things I've only seen on a screen. Helmets, Klim stuff, and of course bikes - but there was nothing too interesting in their line up.....Their clothing section is upstairs.

I turn the corner, and look down onto the floor - and they are rolling a new used bike - and I said - there's my bike! Its a 2013 BMW F800 GS, 18,000 KM, panniers, white. And it was not even in their system yet. I had been online shopping for one of these for months looking for a deal - and there it was....

So I took a deep look, sat on it - and everything said this is my bike. Returned a few days later - it was still not fully into the system as there are a few things that need to be done to it before ready for sale.....but I worked out a deal and there's a sold sign on it with my name.

After looking at, reading, watching video's on what kind of bike to take on a RTW - the bottom line was what will make me smile every time I get on - and the BMW is the exact right bike for me. ITs the right size, has most of the features I was looking for and was in the price range......

When I got home I wrote the following: WHAT THE F#@! AM I DOING - and HOLY F#@! I'M DOING IT!

Game on folks.

Six years ago I had to make a bold decision of 'do I move forward and build my own adv bike' or 'do I buy a bike and groom it into shape' and the only bike I could see filling the boots of decision 2 was a 800 Beamer, great decision mate..!

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
