Well the side of that mountain was 45 degrees and there was no way to go up or down and I could go back because I knew about all the stuff I had to do to get to this point. The tree was waist high on the low end so I couldn't go over. So a walked the trail a bit before going under. I was alone and figured that was the safest action.

unorthodox is good!
solo trail riding HAS to mean that risk assessment becomes paramount in any decision. I would add here that I would probably not have thought of that solution :confused1: & if I had, couldn't have dragged the Transalp through by it's front wheel anyway

My riding buddy had lost his clutch on the trail so I went on ahead instead of backtracking since it was supposed to be a shorter way back to pavement. It was shorter on the map but it took me longer because of all the obstacles on the trail.

more info...my riding buddy ended up walking back to the road after some hikers talked to him into backtracking and made it back to camp before I did. They were about to send out the search party when I finally made it back to camp.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
