Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride 2025
I am taking part in the DGR again this year and would encourage any riders, pretty well anywhere in the worlkd to take part in their local ride. The ride is on 18 May and is open to anyone, on any motorbike. The money raised goes towards research and support into men's health - so prostate cancer research and men's mental health are specific areas supported. As part of the Movember foundation the DGR is one of the biggest financial supporters of research into prostate cancer - almost all of us will know of someone that has suffered from this cancer and research is still ongoing.
It is well recorded that globally suicide is the single biggest cause of death among young men - there has been little support given to mental health services and men's mental health in particular. There are around three times as many suicides by males compared to females. The rate is, on average, 510,000 per year which means that there is more than one every minute of every day. We can do something about this to make a big difference.
Whilst the focus is on men's health the research and support services spill out to include the whole of society so helping women’s mental and physical health as well.
If you could sponsor me then that would be great - UK citizens please tick the gift aid part if it is applicable - but better still ride out yourself and bring your mates along. And then sponsor me!! The link to the sponsorship page is here.
The website to sign up is https://www.gentlemansride.com/ - there are rides all over the world to join.

Thanks for posting that Jay, I'll be out there too. And for all those reading, if you didn't know someone who had prostate cancer - you do now. The research that's ongoing has brought huge strides, but we're not there yet, so get your prostate checked if you're over 40, and donate / sponsor / ride.

Great initiative. Unfortunately I shall be overseas in May, but I am pleased to add a little to your sponsorship.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
