Not certain where I'd be going but I know where I'd be coming from - to get to no ties and no time limits I'd be on my way back from the divorce courts.

Forgiveness is easier than permission....

Only 10K, I'd want a bit more than that! Japan, then Aus and NZ. Been to both Japan and Aus-outstanding, NZ I have never been to.

1. India/Nepal - I have been on a 2 week organised bike trip in Nepal and also small bits of India, mainly Sikkim but would very much like to roam around alone there on a motorbike.

2. Vietnam - I have travelled a bit in Vietnam but not on a bike. Would very much like to do it on a bike.

3. Philippines - same as Vietnam, I have travelled a bit in Philippines but not on a bike. Hopefully there will be a time and an occasion to do so later on.

4. The Stans and Mongolia - I have ridden through Kazakhstan and Kyrgizstan - but theres so much more to see there. Hopefully one day I can go back and see the rest of the Stans and Mongolia.

5. Indonesia including Borneo - I have travelled 3,5 months in Indonesia on a motorbike and I thought it was very interesting and would really love to go back and see more of Indonesia.

With no ties I pressume you mean no time limit ??

10k is a lot of money. But it will also disappear fast in some places.

If you're prepared to live cheap (Camping, hostels etc) then your budget would allow you to ride from Alaska to Ushuaia. Or a trip from Scotland down to South Africa. Or you could ride from Scotland to Vladivostok.

Sadly, you need a plan to get Visas. But I think there is something special and easier about leaving from your own house on your bike.

10k is a bit limited, but there are easy ways to make "more" out of it!

- stop all unnecessary running costs at home!!! (rent, not needed insurances)
- avoid cost intensive Visa hassle (Transafrika, Silkroad)
- travel more detailed/slower (use less fuel, less maintenance)
- choose regions where you can live cheap (food, drinks, fuel)
- Regulary use your Tent (wildcamp), get shower at truck fuelstations or in nature.
- cook your own food
- enjoy more nature than urban/toristic areas
- use wifi you find, no local sims
- more water, less

You have two strategy`s:

- Sell your Adventure Bike, fly in and buy local (enfield in India or similar)
- Start from home with your bike
( this decision could add a lot of cash for your trip)

If you cook your own food and eat simple, you will see that even expensive country`s like switzerland arent that expensive..

So fuel costs are mabye more in focus:

To live on the road cheap (wildcamp) is not in any country easy - so choose wisely ;-)

Even cheap hostels costs something you can save, so choose wisely - and try to use it for socialicing if feeling lonely, not for get a hot shower (what you can find cheaper). Get in touch with locals, offer your manpower for a free or chaper bed.

With considering that you will travel very very long timeframe You mostly dont remember the hostels, s or food you had during your past trips, you will remember people, countrys...

I would only add that, if on 4 or more wheels**, having solar power, a fridge so that you can shop at Lidl or buy from locals and being able to make a hot shower in the middle of nowhere is priceless and does wonders for morale not to mention cleanliness!

By "kit and motorbike already in situ" I assume you mean "in the starting point for the route you plan to take".

Two cases:

1) Now or soon - Covid-19 means that there are lots of borders which are closed, so it makes sense to reduce border crossings to a minimum; also some countries have things under control (NZ for example) so are attractive in terms of reduced health risk, however on the other hand some of them have achieved this partly by prohibiting entry (like NZ, except from Australia, for example). So, a big country with good Covid-19 management - Canada springs to mind, and Australia would be the second, although you'll have to wait until entry is permitted. For Canada you can at least enter the country, albeit with a two week quarantine.

2) Later (once the Covid-19 dust has settled) - I think I'd go for South Asia.

If it had to be may then it would be from UK to Mongolia via the Stans then back via Russia.
If I could wait till Nov/Dec then it would be a circumnavigation of Africa down the west side and up the east.
I think the length of the Americas would cost more than £10K for me.

I have travelled quite extensively in south America, done the Carretera Austral and some of the side rides. And for Ruta 40 I have done good bits of it, but it would be great to maybe once ride the total length of it. My Airbnb host in Cordoba had bicycled the whole lengt of the R40! That was quite an achivement!
Loved Argentina, especially the northern parts of the country.
