BUT the basic rules of polite and civil conduct which everyone agreed to when signing up for the HUBB, will still apply, though moderation will be a LITTLE looser than elsewhere on the HUBB.

"If the UK leaves the EU without a trade agreement, in line with World Trade Organization (WTO) rules, after this date a 10% tariff will apply to finished cars imported from the EU."

You will have to pay a 10% tax. Ouch.

It says. On all cars.

Probably for for new bikes (under 6k km) you will be hit with a another tax. Not sure tho can't find any information.

But at the very least 10%.

It all depends on what the “Deal” was.....

On one side you might not have to pay VAT on your purchase, but have to pay it on your import.......next question might be whether the vehicle would need to be checked for technical compliance by the UK authorities......you can see where this is going a shed load of beaurocracy on both sides of the border.

I would assume that the rules will change to the same as they were when importing a bike or vehicle into the UK from outside the EU - 10% import duty plus 20% VAT. If you've owned the bike more than 6 months these may not apply; if you've owned the bike less than 6 months then they prorate the tax (just the import tax I think). This was the situation when I imported from outside the EU and the UK was still in the EU - did this twice.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
