Pandemic mileage/kilometreage?
It occurred to me a couple of days ago to check how far we're travelling now, with pandemic restrictions. I find that in the last two years we've averaged 2114 km a year / 1321 miles/year in our own vehicle. Now, it should be pointed out that we've accumulated more than that in rental vehicles - 5900 km in Iceland and 5181 km in Argentine Patagonia - in both cases short trips (5 weeks and 6 weeks) where taking our own vehicles would have been completely impractical. Even so, that's a total of 8315 km a year / 5197 miles a year combining our own vehicle and rental vehicles.
This is a lot less than pre-pandemic; in 2019 we covered around 45,000 km / 28,000 miles, although this was a "big trip".
I'm wondering how the pandemic has affected others in terms of distance travelled?

Approx milage 2019 was 50 k kms. The last part of my RTW trip and some smaller trips in Thailand
In 2020 I guess my milage was around 14 kms. 5 k kms in Laos in January and February, approx 3 k in Thailand. And around 6 k kms back home, mostly commuting to work…
In 2021 only approx 6 k kms back home in Norway, mostly commuting to work, 2 short camping trips and few day/half day trips.
2022 - approx 750 kms on a Himalayan and a good 5750 kms on my Crf250. Not bad considered we are not even halfway into February…

I don't have figures but on motorcycles a fraction of what it would have been but my bicycle mileage mostly on shorter trips for exercise or shopping has increased several fold.

From 2021 to now. 30 countries & around 30.000 km. Mostly around Europe.
Never travelled this much before, but the pandemic made remote work possible.

Great point! In fact this year we plan to take advantage of the fact that clients have realised just how much is possible remotely, so we'll be wandering in Canada for a few months - 5 days work, 9 days exploring, so every seecond working week working, but a 36/64 % split work/travel!

I’ve done around 20K miles (approx 32K KMs) over the last 2 years on my bike. I don’t have a car but do use my wife’s occasionally for local journeys.
My wife has done about 10K miles (16K KM) on her bike.
These mileages are normal for our domestic use ie no trips abroad. Even though there were long periods that we were not allowed to travel, when we were allowed we went for longer day rides than normal simply because we were so grateful to get out and about.
We’ve also had better weather than normal over the last 2 years. It’s been particularly dry (I work outside) and my wife and I have heated jackets so this has extended our riding miles as well.
Whenever I’m at a bike gathering I get the feeling that people are itching to go further than ever on their bikes. Whether that’s touring Europe or different continents - I know we are

My travel mileage hasn't really changed due to Covid. I rode a lot before. I ride a lot now.
I escaped Plague Island with its lock-ins in the direction of my adopted new homeland of Bulgaria when the window of opportunity arose in early June 2020.
While borders outside Europe would have been tricky to negotiate, travel inside the EU27/Switzerland/Balkan countries and Turkey has been very straightforward throughout the pandemic, especially as I'm double vaccinated and boosted. I now exclusively use my German passport and keep my Laughing Stock of Europe passport hidden.
Greetings from Andalusia, the dirtbiking centre of the universe!

In terms of 'travel' kilometres only, I just came back from a 21,000 kilometre trip around Turkey (Iran) and Iraq.
I also moved from Europe to SE Asia in 2020 (not remote working).
The pandemic killed an early 2020 plan I had to drive from Europe out to SE Asia, but the trip in Iraq was probably more interesting and I would not have been able to do both.
So I can't complain really
