photo Contest 2005
Hi.
Well I'm new here and I don't mean to offend anyone. This is just a question and MY opinion.
I tried to find any comments or so, regarding the winning picture from the photo contest 2005. I could not !?
Has anyone noticed that this pic is the result of very poor photoshop knowledge. The kid has been photoshoped in to the picture. They didn't even make a effort to put a shadow there! How could this have won ? -there are so many good photos! -why this one ??
I was just wondering...
BTW: Best Forum Ever!!

I wouldn't say the kid is badly photoshopped into the picture, he is not photoshopped into the picture at all. Beside winning the contest the picture was used as a two-page picture in a magazine published in three countries and I only had positive comments.
I've seen comments like yours on the net the last few months (maybe it's you) and I find it sad that people put a effort into talking down other peoples work.
I still have the original dias, feel free to come and see it. Until then, noe more lies okay?

Mate, don't get so pissed off !
I did not mean to offend you !
I think this is a nice picture. I just think the way its shown on this site looks very fake !
Sorry, but I work as a Graphiker and I know a lot about photoshop and faking pics ! The white shine around the kids body and the "weird" shadows of him, made me think it might be a fake !! Maybe its just really a bad coincidence !
But the fact that you are telling me, that you had other comments like mine, proof to me that I'm not the only one thinking this way!? -I swear to everything that is important to me, that this is the first time I saw this pic and commented on it.
Please don't take this the wrong way !
Sorry!
Joel

It looks to me as you are pretty sure that the boy is photoshopped into the picture.
After all this is the bar so I have a proposal:
We make a bet of 5.000€. You come to my place where you can have a look at the dias. I will find my lightboard, magnifier and projector to make it easier. If there is a dias with the boy and the bike I win 5.000€, otherwise you win 5.000€.
If you like we can have a neutral person (Grant?) as a judge and the looser of the bet pay him 5.000€. This means that one of us will loose 10.000€. After all I'm sure Grant needs the money and one of us will probably change status to "Contributing member".
We can put the meeting on video and post it here.
For a "Graphiker" who is sure in his case this must be easy money and you have a chance to prove your point.
BTW:
You can probably find some support here (google-translate from hungarian):
Világutazók. képek - SportMotor
Világutazók. képek - SportMotor
We could go and ask the boy (or his brother/friend). I was probably the first white guy he saw so he will probably remember. But I'm not sure if he is alive and I think it can be hard to find him:

If someone has really good eyes they will see that there is a "graphical error" in the picture above (with the two kids), but it's not made by me

Easy Guys, easy...
I allready said I was sorry !
Stop your crying ! - I believe you!
I can see it on these pictures that they're real. And they are very nice pictures too. But as I alrady said: If you look at the pic shown on the site from HorizonUnlimited or the site AliBaba posted, it looks really strange ! And it seems that I was not the only one saying that, because mine wasn't the first comment like that !
So here again: I AM SORRY!
Let's be friends again.
BTW do u have a travel report with more pics from this trip? I'd really like to see more pics and read about that journey.

Omo Valley Kid
As for the photo ( I think it is in the Omo Valley) I have similar ones, but apart
from that my company Visual Graphics is indeed a graphics company so we are very tuned to photoshop as it is a daily part of our business, now I may know nothing about motorbike mechanics but I know a shit load about photos & I to will bet anyone who thinks it is a fake ! As we say in OZ its: Ridgy Didge, The Real McCoy, it's a Ripper !!!

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
