Planning South American Journey Finances
I guess this post will serve as a re-introduction, since I haven't been active for a few years.
I own a 99 Thunderbird Sport, and an 07 Bonneville, which has proven to be a formidable motorcycle in many different situations. Having completed several 4,000 mile + road trips, I've never felt threatened nor worried of her performance....except on the Baja trip I did several years ago.
Which is why I'm now looking at a new Tiger. Being a competition dirt rider in my youth, the idea of a South American tour really excites me. The financial's is what's holding me back at the moment. Since the only thing I have is what I've earned, I can still see myself on a year long journey through the Southern continent.
I'm wondering if there is a forum here on H-U where I can post picture of t-shirts I've designed for the moto crowd, to help with the needed finances. This is one that's been pretty popular among the local Tiger group.

Welcome to the site, 07Bonne. Nice t-shirts.
Vendors need approval from the owners. Easy enough for you to find Grant and Susan and ask them. Probably best it works that way than waiting for them to search you out.

If your goal is a South America trip, the price of a new Tiger would be enough to finance a really good trip. A Bonneville with some upgraded shocks and reasonably aggressive tires will handle anything a normal person might want to do in SA. I'm riding a Victory Cruiser that is way not the bike for this the backroads in Peru where I am, but I made it on pure street tires. Also, a simple steel frame bike can be repaired at any corner bike shop.
If your goal is to sell T shirts, never mind.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
