Riding from Europe to Singapore
Sometime in the next couple years I am looking at doing a motorcycle ride from Europe to Singapore through. Turkey, Caucuses, ferry across the Caspian through Central Asia and from Kyrgistan ride down through Kashgar, Lhasa, Chengdu, Guilin, and then into Vietnam and down the Malaysian pennisula to Singapore where I would then ship my bike home.
I wondeingr how difficult and costly would it be to bring a bike into China and ride through? From what I understand it looks like foreigners are required to get a Chinese driver license, get the bike registered in China, and pay for a guide to escort through the country? I'm looking to see if anyone has done this trip and how hard was it to get through the Chinese leg of this ride?

The route was (prior to covid) from Kyrgyzstan to Laos as you cannot enter Vietnam with a foreign vehicle.
Chinese agency takes car of all the papwork so it's not hard but expensive. It remains to be seen what the proceure is once CHina re-opens. About ten years ago friends of mine did this by car (Laos to Kazakhstan) and I believe it was in the region of 8000 USD. Getting a group together is of course a good way to reduce this cost a little.
Most people made the short trip from Kyrgyzstan to Pakistan, but Myanmar is currently closed and I would not rely on it opening again in the near future.

Good luck with this and please keep us posted.
This is the trip I most want to do but with Russia, China, Iran and Myanmar all being iffy I’ll wait for them to calm down.
My preferred route is Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Oz.
Just need a bit of peace and tranquility to break out.

Also worth pointing out that crossing into Singapore with your own vehicle will be a pain and a disproportionate expense. May be better to ride up to the SG border and take a selfie, then ship home from Kuala Lumpur and just take the train to SG - it's much better seen on foot/public transport anyway.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
