Second Pfizer Covid Vaccination
Because I am a registered EC (Extended Care) person for my moma in a long-term facility - I was high up the list to get the vaccination. Yesterday I got the second shot. The first shot had no side effects, but this time I am feeling it. Headaches, achy, like I'm coming down with something....but I know these are all from the vaccination - so no real worries...just not feeling great.

But it is great to have another layer of protection for when I visit my mom, which is every day. I am now registered as having the two Pfizer vaccinations and am waiting to see how two things develop. 1. How long the vaccination protects for, IE - when will I have to do this again and 2. How being vaccinated may assist in opening up travel. I am not planning on going for over a year still, so not an immediate concern....just wondering about vaccination passports and the like - how this may develop....

My wife had her 2nd Pfizer vaccination about a month ago and got much the same result - 1st shot, nothing, 2nd shot, shivery, flue like symptoms for about a day and a half. My daughter had her 1st Pfizer in mid Dec and her second in early Jan. She had no side effects from either so it obviously varies. Both of them are front line medics.

I had my 1st AstraZeneca about three weeks ago and felt terrible the next day - for about 24hrs. I've had that before with the seasonal flu jab so I wasn't surprised. None of the symptoms last long and a couple of paracetamol + a night's sleep sorts it out.

Two of our extended family have had Covid - neither had to go to hospital but one of them got long Covid and was off work for a month. Even three months later she's still not quite right.

Had the first jab of Aztra-Zenecas vaccine yesterday since Im a nurse and work with many patients, several of them have had the Covid disease while under my nursing.

Last night wasnt very comfortable, shivering and shaking with fever and later sweating like a pig. Yep - my immun-system is thoroughly activated for sure!

Had paracetamol and ibuprofen this morning and went for a 15 km hike, and all was gone. Feeling a tad of last nights reaction right now, but one more night and it will be gone. Hope the second jab doesnt cause similar reactions...

I just had the first Pfizer and it was OK, arm felt like it had been punched but no big deal. I have heard the second shot (of any of them) can leave you feeling a little rough, but that's just a sign that the first one has already built up an immune response and reacts immediately to the second shot. It's good news, and a real no-brainer to have it.

Wife and I have had both shots, no side effects we noticed. Just wish more people would get theirs.

At age 54, I'm still waiting for a first shot of anything. Heck, my mom is 74 and my stepdad is 80, and they are still waiting for a first shot... Dad has been told that he will get a call and get his first shot sometime this month.

British Columbia really seems to be fumbling the ball.

SWMBO went on the NHS website and they are now accepting bookings for people 55-59 so I got mine booked for next Saturday and the following up on 1 June. I have to say I have been impressed at the efficiency that the NHS. When I see the insurance based arrangements that they have in the USA I am so glad that we have the NHS in the UK - effective, fair, free at the point of delivery - covering all of the treatment costs, no hassle and efficient.


EDIT: For those in the UK this is the link to get the vaccine lined up - currently they are booking 55-59 year olds (at least in our area). You need your NHS Number, date of birth, postcode and your diary to record when you are getting the first and second doses:

Depends on which variant you get and what you expect. The South Africa variant require x6 times more antibodies, and California variant x2 times of what vaccine produce. Vaccine will be effective in preventing hospitalization but you will still get sick.
