hmmmmm.... the OP was made 2 weeks ago and last week it was already set to private... So for the ones who were very quick they could enjoy it for free and the rest of us need to pay...
"It's all about the money.... and it ain't no funny...."
Sorry about this, but it's just how some of us feel when reading this.
In any case, good luck with the sales!

you mean it's how you feel when reading this.
personally, I say fair play. There are lots of peole on here fund their trips through sales of books, merchandise and DVDs, so why not this one, just because you missed out on the freebie.
Anyway, it wuld apear that the sales are not going to funding trips but towards a charity

It's not just about me. Don't point fingers or assume things please.
I didn't saw the post until I got a few mails about it and that's why I responded.
I personally have no problem at all people writing books or making dvd's or doing whatever they want to make/raise money. I've bought several books and films in the past few years so that's not the issue.
And I can perfectly understand why, but some people (yes including me) think it's almost a marketing stunt to work this way... Drugdealers also work this way btw... hahahaha!
Like I said, I wish haggis all the best with the sales!

Thanks for that.
Marketing stunt I'm not that clever, in fact it's probably more clumsy of me to do it this way. I really should redo the trailer to make people want it more... maybe I shouldnt have put any on youtube ... it wasn't planned, more evolved, really! It was for another TV show that has since died. I started to edit myself and its grew from there - honest!

sorry, my mistake for interpreting your post as it read, like bitter judgemental sour grapes. Whats wrong with marketing your DVD anyway. If you don't market it it's not going to sell much. Rather that then do it on the back of a famous friend!!
If you don't have a problem with it why post such a bitter sounding diatribe? I'm having some difficulty understanding your position as you seem to contradict yourself, but there you go, must be me again.
BTW, I thoroughly enjoyed watching the films!

our man Charlie who managed to make a career out of travelling after getting lucky doing a trip with his famous mate Euan. without him, no one would have been interested in Long way Round. Up until then he was an out of work actor scraping a living doing a bit of painting and decorating.
Jealous, hell yeh!!
In other words, if you can make some money out of travelling to pay for more travels, then go for it.

True, can't argue with that...
Although we personally declined all the after trip stuff, we enjoy more giving presentations than writing a book or making a dvd. But that's beside the point!

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
