Uk to Cape Town World Record
Anyone know what the record is on a motor bike. I see someone has just done it in ten days in a 4 x 4. Am I correct in thinking that Guiness no longer recognise record attempts by motor cycle, due to elf and safety reasons?

I think you are correct in saying Guinness no longer recognise some records but thought it was because you had to break the law in the countries you pass through to do it.

Firstly, who gives a toss and secondly and in my world more importantly, does it include stops. Ride safe.

Just out of curiosity: how on earth does anyone manage to drive a 4x4 from the UK to Cape Town in 10 days? Let alone, why anybody would want to.
Relax,
Gee

Hi Mate, it was a two man team driving non stop. I agree it wouldn't be for everyone, but alot of people do like to set records, thats why the Guiness book of records has been going for so long. What about the Iron Butt association?

I guess such actions arent good for the tourism arround there.
You guys will push to much, and the locals get angry about.
Also it is more an financial act than driving. With a team on each border you will just have a drive through at sample - where the poor guy stick for hours...
Do better join some of the rally-stuff arround - to be able to have these kind of fun...

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
