The music plays on...

McCrankpin.

I have posted the idea, on (Web Site Feedback) to Grant and Susan Grant, of creating a music video from a ballad, with photographs, written by "Those of the HUBB" to find out what they think of the idea.

Meanwhile, I really am enjoying your last 2 selections. Perhaps we can convince Loreena McKennitt or Leonard Cohen to record the ballad, written by "Those of the HUBB."

Below, is an example, video with music, we will probably have to have photographs accompanying the ballad, video would be difficult, but not impossible.

For you.

Harley of Seville

Ted and all happy enough to be here....

After extensive research, I hardly even went to the beach, I found 2 more international motorcycle ballads worthy of the HU BAR.

Here, I am very pleased to present "The Harley of Seville" and the

unforgettable....

" Alabama Motorcycle Mama With a LLama "

As with most treasures, you have to dig through a lot of dirt first, so just try an ignore the 2 really bad comedians introducing these two classic motorcycle ballads, actually, the vocalists are talented.

YouTube - Whose Line: Greatest Hits Songs of The Motorcycle (II)

And, if you enjoyed the 2 classics above, the comedians are much better here as they introduce

"Old Lady ON MY HOG" and the famous 1960s Dylanesque protest song "Asphalt in Chaps" and one more I can't translate.

YouTube - Whose Line: Greatest Hits Songs of The MotorCycle (I)

NOW THIS IS MORE LIKE IT! " Freedom of the Open Road"

YouTube - Motorcycle Music, Freedom of the Open Road

And this is a must see!

There's more

Great set of bike videos there.

I don't have many bike-specific pieces, so will try these:

Somewhere good to aim for..........
YouTube - LOU CHRISTIE - BEYOND THE BLUE HORIZON

and.........
YouTube - beyond the sunset

Now a very short trip, with some smooth moves!
YouTube - down the road a piece

And for when you're a long long way from home.................
YouTube - Canción Mixteca / Lila Downs / San Bartolomé Yucuañe 2007

("Que lejos estoy de suelo donde he nacido.")

Now, take a LOT of care on those Italian roads!
Great Italian Motorcycle Display

Finally, not too sure how you'd get a bike here:
YouTube - Antarctica

plus a clip from the film. There are no huskies there now.
YouTube - Vangelis - Antarctica

Cheers!

It's the journey, not the destination

Some mornings I wake up and know I'm on the right road. This was one of those mornings. My first words this morning were the lyrics to Nat King Cole's "Route 66." My thoughts were of the road, the Mother Road of North America.

Many past mornings I awakened very near the road itself. My ranch is on a hill, my dirt gravel lane empties into Route 66 as it winds from Winona, through the ponderosa pine forest, toward Flagstaff. The high snow covered peaks, called sacred mountains by the Navajo and Hopi, dominate the road, and reveal the road as it is, insignificant layers of asphalt.

Nat King Cole's 1950s recordings of "Mona Lisa" and "Unforgettable" were my lullabies.

He also composed and recorded the now infamous song "Route 66" that has help to crystalize an idea, a concept for our own music video.

When I see Glen Heggstad's photographs, (StrikingViking in Ride Tales), and reflect upon how different they are from the post election media images of Iran, I understand the importance of those differences.

No one has written a ballad about the Pan American Highway, we can do this
and more much more. We can share our experiences through a music video.

Ideas welcome. xfiltrate....

Come now, ladies and gentlemen. What consonance of mental images regarding stunning vistas and broadening experiences would be complete without a little Pink Floyd?

As the pendulum swings the other way, here's something completely different. Back to motorbikes:

Plus some real adventure motorcycling action(!)

And something from the PanAmerican Highway. I cycled a little of it back in 2001.

Tuareg music Niger

It is a very dark, windy, wet and stormy night on the north coast of of Spain. I can see the lights of A Coruña out across the water, but my thoughts are of Africa and the Sahara. I was researching ancient "Algerian" caves and cave drawings and found this music on YouTube. It centered me and made me smile. I hope you enjoy it too. The guy really knows how to ride a camel!

Then there's this:

They court a lot of controversy, this band, about the songs they cover. But I like them.
This one's sometimes credited to Zundel but it's an olde Irish folkesong.

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
