TMT Start

Hello everyone,

While I was just in spain,I read about this wonderful new thing called the TMT.

I cant imagine what possessed both Chris and Ed to spend countless hours ,days and weeks putting this together and offering it to the world for zero dollars, but I am sure we will all thank you.

I noticed that the start will be in Nador,I have no input other than everything I have read always mentioned to go to Tangier Med Port.

So my question is, should we when planning to do this head directly for Nador (My best estimate for doing this is either May or October of 2025) on a ferry, or should we still shoot for Tangier Med and then make way to the Nador start area?

Thanks once again for all you have done

Cheers,

Paulo

Hi Paulo,
TanMed is dead easy but Nador (or Beni Enzar port next to Melilla, Sp) is quiet and quick. People use it if they fancy a longer ferry crossing by way of a rest, or want to access the desert quicker: Rekkam or Merzouga.
The only issue might be buying local insurance in Nador if you don't have your own.
See: https://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hu...lla-beni-92937

We chose Nador as the best start point for a Moroccan sea to ocean TMT.
Even using the A2 from Fes, it would be 2 days from TanMed until that autoroute crosses the TMT south of Nador.
if you really want to try the full TMT, I'd simply head for Beni Enzar. Ed is heading out to recce the 600km A to J Rekkam stages later this week.

thank you for the reply,

I will look into buying the insurance online prior to getting to morocco, they appear to have a way to purchase online now.

As my car is staged in Portugal, getting to the port would be an easy 8 hour trip to the ferry port and then starting from there.

I will likely only have something like 2 or 3 weeks available, so I dont think I would be able to complete this in one sitting, but I will shoot for the best and then make my way back via Tan Med.

Cheers,

Paulo

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
