DR650 Sprockets Needed - Chile/Argentina
Hi all,

Im after a set of sprockets for my DR650. Having a hard time finding replacements. Got nowhere in Santiago. I Even had a set shipped from the states, but they're being held up in customs and I'm getting further and further behind my friends and don't feel like hanging out in Puerto Mott for a number of weeks.

I could travel a few thousand K for pick up, probably about 2k of highway left on them. Currently in Puerto Mott region, southern Chile.

Also any ideas on sourcing new ones would be appreciated!

Bodge replacement .. cost $$ but less time.

Find sprockets with the right number of teeth and chain size. Don't worry about what they fit. One or two teeth difference on the rear won't worry you too much if you have no choice. Get to a machine shop - have them machine the sprockets so that the new teeth go onto your hubs (remove your old teeth off your hub and remove the hub off the new teeth so they fit one to the other). Have them wielded up and your good to go.

Hope your replacing the chain at the same time.

You may find the 'customs delay' will mean your out of the country by the time they clear and the charges are more than the sprockets are worth. Arrange that someone can pick them up legally .. but don't let them pay too much for them.

Thanks for the help.

That's a good idea and I'll look into it.

The whole customs thing is really annoying. It has been there for over a week according to the tracker on USPS and I still don't know what I need to do to get it out of there!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love.
