The Copacabana crossing there is quite corrupt, at worst you may have to pay $10-$15 as a bribe (I paid $10 in 2009 to enter on a power of attorney and with no insurance).
What's the deal with buying a bike in Sucre? Already have one lined up? If you're buying second hand you should know that they've changed a few laws lately and it takes a little longer to transfer the paperwork, though you can ride around Bolivia whilst waiting for it to process which is cool, best country for it in my opinion.
When you get here I'll show you some nice trails in the mountains before you hit the road if you want
