China
Planning to travel through Europe then on through Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, India into South East Asia. Is it possible/has anyone recently tried to bypass Myanmar via China? Would also really appreciate any advice on latest situation/problems in crossing Iran, Pakistan etc.
Many thanks
Gordon Cross

Hi Gordon,
When are you leaving? There's five of us overlanding to india, and further, in two groups and meeting up for crossing iran/pakistan, leaving London beginning of May 02. There's been quite a lot of posts on this subject, have a look around. China is very expensive and red-taped. I'm planning to aircargo my bike from Kathmandu to Bangkok.
regards
George

Hai,
In my huble opinion you can just as well forget about china (and Myanmar). There is more info on the HUBB if you search on China, but in short: forget it.
As far as I know there are no problems in Iran and Pakistan. The situation is a bit tense, but it has been for the last few decenia. Bordercrossings are still open for overland travelers.
When will you be there? I'll spend some time there around october 2002 (comming from Holland)

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
