Pakistan to India border crossing
I am going overland from UK to OZ early next year. Does anyone know if you can cross the border near Bhuttewala and go to Jaisalmer. This route seems far shorter than going north in Pakistan and crossing over at Wagah.
Any thoughts?

Hello Simon,
as far as we know, no-one can cross anywhere else but at Wagha/Attari - unfortunately, I know.
Never heard of anyone, nor have any info it was ever possible after 1947.

On this subject, I am currently in India with an Enfield but no Carnet.
What difficulties will I encounter at Waggah, if I attempt to cross with the bike?

Ade,
unfortunately the answer is "after LOADS of discussions, the Pakistanis MIGHT (just might !) put your bike on the train to the Iran border". That's in the best of cases. We met two French bikers who travelled without Carnet (in Iran, travelling west), and heard of others who had to leave their van at the Iran/Pak border (travelling east). Pakistan does not accept any transit without Carnet. That's the way it is.
