Smile Quebec to Ushuaia, Few questions :)

Hello been following for a long time… Time for advice and info from you guys  Sorry in advance for the long post and all of my questions. Leaving tommorow from Québec, Canada for a trip to Ushuaia Argentina and back (approx one year). Crossing the border In Sarnia,Canada following route 66 until somewhere in Texas. I want to visit Big Bend national park in Texas before crossing in El Paso. Q1 :Apparently I can get my TIP on the 45 in Juarez (is this still correct). Q2 I was wondering if I can get insuarance for the bike in El Paso. Q3 I will need a new set of Heidenau for the Bike any good motorcycle shop that could get me a pair in a reasonable time in that area ?. Also feel free to give my advice about cool place to ride along the way , place to stay , good mechanics or website, any of the stuff that can make my trip more fun. Thanks for your time and answer and i’m always looking for a place to pitch my tent at night so if you wanna help a fellow rider let me know. Again many thanks to all of you. See you on the road and take it easy -Pascal.

I'm not seeing earlier posts referred to above. "Mountain Man" ??
"CalTow"? Gone? Why?

Pascal,
I would recommend taking a cooler, more Northerly route going West to cross USA.

Wyoming, Montana, Idaho are ALL undiscovered treasures. You could easily spend a month exploring there.

From there I would hug the West coast to avoid the HIGH HEAT on inland areas. Also, it's the most beautiful riding area in the USA. Coast can be foggy this time of year but more pleasant than 50C temps.

This will bring you to Tijuana. All services available at the border and you get to travel down Baja, which is MUCH more
beautiful than on Mexican mainland. You can cross to mainland on the Ferry in La Paz. I've done it both ways, much prefer Baja route. (6 trips in last 10 years or so)

Best bet for Mexican insurance would be buying it ONLINE. Here is one I used:
https://www.bajabound.com/buy/?view=start

LOTS of Canadians go to Mexico so check in on forums to get more info from other experienced Canadian Mexico travelers. (most drive motohomes or fly)

The best shop I know for Tires would be:
Motorcycle Tires - Chaparral Motorsports
Decent prices and excellent mount/balance while you wait. Best to call ahead but I've just showed up and had new tires in an hour. They are an hour from
Mexican border. It will be HOT in San Bernadino this time of year.

bon chance

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
