Panamanian Caribbean coast cut off
We are currently stranded in Changuinola, Panama and have been trapped on the coast for 3 days. The road over the mountains to David is washed out and the roads north of Sixaola in CR are under water. The road between Changuinola and Chiriquiri Grande is open and passable as of a few days ago. There are currently no flights or boats out as far as we can tell. We haven't been able to get a solid estimate on when roads will re-open or when flights or shipping will resume.

I don't know the condition of the road from Limon CR to San Jose, but that is our best hope as of now. If you know the condition of this road I would love to hear it. I personally saw the washouts in the road to David and I would estimate it will be weeks before it will be repaired.

If you were headed over this way, don't bother.

If you can assist with logistics for getting a bike shipped out of Changuinola, Almirante, or Chiriquiri Grande, I'd love to hear from you.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
