epicycles.com is a very detailed blog on the two-way trip Oz to Europe but I don't recall anything on costs. There are a couple of detailed descriptions of the visas required and they might have costs detailed. Also somewhere are spreadsheets of fuel costs and distances

I suspect the trite reply would be if you need to ask, you probably can't afford it.

First step might be to see what is involved in getting a tourist visa to Australia and go from there.

Hi Timo

We did this back in 2011 on a DR650 & XT250.
Money? Up to you really but you'll have to spend on obvious like fuel & visas. You need to eat & drink where ever you live and you decide your own budget for that.
China? Yes, from Pakistan on KKH. Expensive? Yes but worth it we think
Camped in Oz & Euro. No camping in SE Asia + india etc, why bother?
No idea about carnet costs etc. Contact AAA in Oz and ask them if you can if not a citizen etc. We imported bikes into UK and closed carnet no problem

Cheers

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
