bike storage over seas!???
Hi all,
my wife and i and our 2 boys will be embarking on a round the world trip spanning about 5 years, BUT... it will be 2-3 months on the road, fly home work for 9 months then head back to the bike where ever that may be at the time and continue on,
reason... The kids still need to attend school and we dont have the money to home school and spend years with out an income!
how does one work out storage?, will obviously be happy to pay but just want some ideas , i know its been done before, and the bike/sidecar rig isnt worth huge money so its no skin of our back by trusting it in some one ells care, its just a tool to see the world to us, .

One way is to ask on the HU community for the country or city you hope to leave it if there is anywhere it can be stored, I have found the communities very helpful and left my bike in South Africa with someone on there.
The one thing to be aware of is if the bike has been brought in on a carnet (CDP) or a temporary importation permit (TIP) it will need to be get out before that expires or there will be a problem when you leave that country. In theory if it is in on a CDP the owner should not leave the country without it but it is possible as long as it is not written into your passport, a CDP also only allows for a 180 day stay in any country.
You will have to plan your trip around which country you can leave it in then find storage in that country, quite possible but not straightforward.

Vehicle Storage In Thailand
Hi James,
My wife and I run Plodd Stop in Thailand ([url]www.overlandersthailand.com] and we can provide vehicle storage here in Thailand. we can also provide accommodation for overlanders in our purrpose build facilities for the guests to stop in or they can sleep in there own vehicles, so if you are passing our way just let us know.
Kind regards
Dave & Lesley

Bike storage in Southern Europe
Wonder if anyone knows where to store a US registered bike in southern FR or E. My aspiration is to not be constrained to riding during the warm season only. Have stored my bike in DE, which works great but is limited by the inclement winters. Have tried to put the bike on the Autozug to/from Narbonne, but it has not been an ideal solution.
Any thoughts and suggestions are welcome.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
