CO2 Cartridges and Air Travel
Has anyone run into issues trying to take the Co2 cartridges (for tire inflation) onto a plane. Does anyone know what the PSI of these cartridges are as I've heard I may be able to take them on a plane if it's below 40PSI.
Thanks

As far as I understand you are not allowed to take these onto a plane unless you have had prior agreement from the pilot.
Even though the majority of life jackets use these.

If you bring a life jacket, you can carry them in the USA (FAA regulations).
But who wants to bring a life jacket on an overLAND journey?!
From FAA Website:
Gas cylinders for self-inflating life jackets
With approval of the aircraft operator, a passenger or crew member may carry in checked or carry-on baggage, no more than two small gas cartridges containing no hazardous material other than Division 2.2 gas that are fitted into a self-inflating lifejacket for inflation purposes, plus no more than two spare catridges.
You know, these are probably the on every life jacket under every seat in an airplane!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
