1. Yes
2. No, each country will provide diesel, upon payment of course
3. Yes, providing you have passports
4. Great
5. You would be advised to get a carnet, though it is possible without
6. Ask more specific questions

Thanks for the reply.
Regarding a few points here:
2.
I asked because I heard that there only lorries in Iran use diesel engine and all the family cars use petrol. So the question is: since I use v power diesel in UK, but have to use the normal diesel in Iran, then does a 2013 model landrover accept that kind of diesel? sorry for asking silly question here.

5. getting a carnet in uk for my car is expensive, do you have experience on sorting this kind of paperwork out at the border?

6. What do you recommend for me to take in the car in case of breakdown and are there such things as AA for each country all the way to Turkey?

Many thanks

ADAC will cover you the whole way to Turkey, but even with a landrover I doubt a 2013 will break down!

Just buy your diesel in big chain filling stations and you will be fine all the way to Eastern Turkey.

A carnet for that is going to be a lot of money.

did the london to aus in 2012 with mitsubishi delica turbo diesel. no probs with diesel, look for those that have trucks and fill up there.. i didnt have fuel card and unsure what the latest is there... wasnt a problem for me, i usually rolled up to the pump and looked lost someone would bail me out with theres, you have to pay the highest rate for the fuel but its still incredibly cheap..

border crossing, dont ask me, i had a shocker. i nearly got mugged by 4 at the border. and still not sure if i was supposed to pay something at the border. i didnt at all in the end because the whole time they were trying to scam me, i just wouldt pay a thing... perhaps someone could shed some light on this... for me aswell

i got insurance with alessie (below is a snippet of there quote to me. its pricey but easy.

1) Third Party Liability insurance (international green card).
The insurance is valid for all European countries incl. Ukraine, Russia, Turkey, Iran, Israel, Morocco and Tunisia.
Premium for 2 months Euro 364 including policy charges provided all drivers are 25 years of age or older.
Premium for 3 months Euro 469 incl pol. charges.

i got the carnet which in the end was only a few hundred quid. but the bond deposit is quite an outlay at the start...

carnet

Hello,
I thought I share my finding with you.
Apparently to go to Iran, I must have a carnet from RAC.
It works out extremely expensive and so it is not worth it for me to drive there.

Anyway, Thanks for your help everyone.
