Bike helmet as hand luggage
Three weeks ago, I flew long-haul from Melbourne to Granada, Spain, via Singapore, London Heathrow and Madrid, carrying my Arai lid in a soft drawstring helmet bag in addition to my other hand luggage: a backpack and laptop.
I flew Qantas/BA/Iberia and went through screening procedures four times - not once did anyone query the helmet, except one security bloke in Singapore who asked: "Dirt bike or cruiser?" when he saw the helmet-shaped bag.
All good on the planes too: I stuck it under the seat between my feet, smothered in the airline blanket for protection!
