Hello Folks!

After travelling for almost two years across Southern Europe and Eastern Asia, I created the idea of our own place for travellers stopping by. Inspired the most about the Motocamp in BG, a great place, simple, very comfortable and an awesome atmosphere, I often thought about such a place in Italy. I am not Italian, I am from Germany, but Italy was so far the country I loved the most, because of the weather, the food and especially teh people and their way of living?

I couldn't really find any places so far that are dedicated to motorcycles. Is there any reason or did just nbdy. wanted to do sth. like this in Italy? Areas I am really fascinated about have been, around Bologna hills down to Genova Coast or the very south of the Alpes.

What are well travelled routes, beside the Alpes? I guess many people going coming from Greece by ferry boat into Ancona going along the Bologna area and Po-delta?

I can't help wonder if there really is a need for " moto camps"
Also the business model has its failings if you "restrict" your clients to bikers only. If you were in the middle of less populated areas say Mongolia, then yes it might be an oasis for travellers.

But Italy ? ........there are a lot of traditional camp sites which work well for everyone including bikers. A fair few bike travellers avoid this sort of thing anyway choosing to wild camp or chat up the locals for free pitch

As a money making thing I don't think it would work that well.
Doing it just to meet people you have things in common with ? Yeah probably work.

Learning my craft for the big stuff, it won't be long now and it's not that far anyway

There have been a number of Moto Camps over the years and I even spent a few nights in the original (at least I think it was the original) Camping Moto back in 1977 (according to the dates on some of my old photographs). It always sounded like a good idea - all bikers together, cameraderie of the road, bunch of outlaws that we are, etc but in practice it just looked like another campsite. Do you have anything in mind to make it stand out?

Also in practice, if you spend all the money to set it up, are you really going to turn away a high spending camper van convention and welcome a bunch of bikers who'll have to pool their resources to buy a can of ?

I've toured a lot in the northern Italy area over the years in a mix of bikes, cars and camper vans and I'd be pretty pissed if I was welcomed on the bike one year and turned away in the car the next. I'd be venting my ire on TripAdvisor not long afterwards. Nothing against the idea but unless you can come up with a USP it just seems like you'd be excluding a large source of traditional campsite income.

Having said that, all sorts of things draw the punters in. You could do worse than try reverse psychology. A friend just sent me the campsite picture below from a trip he did last week. Looks like a great place to stay -
