I don't think the average Iranian would know that Goldstein is a common Jewish name. However, you may just find it impossible to get a visa at the moment anyway...

Hi,
I can't speak for the reaction to the 'jewishness' of your name, and to be honest any responses (much like mine!) will be very much conjecture as nobody really knows the thinking of the Iranian Foreign Affairs department. I'd have thought your passport would be more of an issue, and more important the contents of your visa pages.
Iran doesn't seem to like the UK at the moment, whereas I'd say Oz is slightly less 'offensive' to it. We're UK passport holders and have just had our application for a tourist visa rejected for the 3rd time! Not sure what we've done and we've certainly not had any explanations, yet whilst we've been going through all this we've seen other UK passport holders getting issued them through the same agencies. Who knows why?!
All you can do is go for it and let us know what happens!
Good luck!

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
