Time, Carnet and Myanmar
Oooo, my first thread. I'm excited. Hope this is in the right place.
Been thinking of a trip now for a few years and think I've finally decided on a route. Starting in my home country of the uk it's across Europe to Turkey, Iran, Pakistan and into India before heading for Myanmar and onward to Thailand and Malaysia and across the islands as far as I can before shipping to Oz and round there to Nz and then back to OZ and then shipping from Perth to SA and then back to the uk up the east of Africa. Big trip for me. Especially when my weapon of choice will be a CG 125. Keeping it real. I have no doubt the bike will make it and I'm traveling fairly light, got all my gear to around 25kg.
So here's the crux of the thread. Want to split the trip up so I can come back and earn some money. So thinking 6 months to OZ (then 6 months earning back in the uk) 6 months in OZ and NZ (6 months back in uk earning) then the final 6 months up through South Africa.
Do these travel times seem reasonable ?
And how is it leaving the bike on an open carnet to come back and work ? Could it be stored at a port out of one country but not in the next, so its in no mans land effectively ?
And even getting there. How's the crossing of Myanmar ? Guided from what I can pick up but that's just the same as Pakistan and Iran is it not ? Any info from you guys would be amazing.
Oh, not doing the trip till 2020 so I know a lot of things can change but I gotta start somewhere.
Cheers guys.
