Need my seat prefessionally reshaped - Recommend me someone in the U.K.

Hey all..

My DRZ400 seat is like sitting on a 6" wide plank. Tried the Corbin and didnt like it so going to get a custom one. A sheepskin doesnt help much either.

I really want it widened and fitted with gel packs.

I'm looking for some recommendations for a good seat maker who doesnt cost the earth.. £100-£150 max really.

I've considerered trying myself but would rather someone with experience do this.

So, if anyone can recommend someone ???????

Thanks in advance, Ed

I spoke to Saxon, down in the west country I think. Prices seemed good. Found someone who had one and loved it. Then decided not to spend the cash and have put that on hold after doing a 1000mile weekend trip to Scotland and back and discovering that it wasn't the seat that was the problem it was the wind blast of an unfaired bike (WR250R) that was making my ears ring.

Whether I'll be saying that on my way East next year is another matter...

Ted - No idea whether they can do what you want but they did a good job on my CCM seat which had similar "split you in two" tendencies

Reshaping Motorcycle seat

Hi Ed,

We recently used Lee at Viking Vinyls to lower and resculpt the seat on an XT660 and were really happy with the results. Lee's a qualified Upholsterer, has chosen to specialise in bike seats so really knows his stuff. They normally do really complex jobs so our job was easy, and took 30 minutes and cost £45.

Viking are based a couple of miles from Brands Hatch, not sure if that's a problem for you, but give them a call as I'm sure a courier would get round that problem.

They are close to Bradford yes, did a seat for me a while back for my Trans Alp, but I could never get on with it. They took the seat back and reworked it some more but I found the end result more uncomfortable than the original so I stuck that back on and put up with it. No problems with their service though.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
