Removing back seat from car - Red Tape?

Setting off soon and have just thought of it to create more space.

Travelling through europe to turkey syria and Jordan. Am I likely to get hassle doing this without ammending Reg doc?

It won't be particularly noticeable, as the back seat space will be full of gear anyhow , the seat backs fold down, it's only the base that I want to leave at home.

I'd be very suprised if anyone counted your seats, even on the Syria borders, and even if they are numbered on a carnet. I'd take the seat backs out too! The V5 is not usually scrutinised further than registration number, and engine number/chassis number if you've got a real bored jobsworth!
Beautiful part of the world I spent much time in in the 90s and a return is long overdue.
Enjoy,
Simon.

Yes, I'll go for it!
It'll reduce weight as well.

I wouldn't wait too long..................

The Turkish coast will soon be completely gobbled up.
I've just found out that they have given the go-ahead to build a nuclear plant on Akkuyu bay about 30-40 miles west of Silifke. The knock-on from that will llikely mean that the road to Anamur will all become dual carriageway - they've already built sections of it - eventually Anamur will join up with alanya to the East, and we can say goodbye to one of the last undeveloped coastlines.

Removing the seats was a great move. The folding backs in particular weighed a ton. Car handles much better under load now.

Was thinking more of Syria and Jordan. Lovely desert, lovely mountains, lovely people (particularly Syria) and plenty of "civilisation" when you want it!
Happy travels,
Simon.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
