2 weeks until lift off

Hello all,

Like it says, 2 weeks until I leave from Victoria BC and head down the 101 through the US to Baja and onwards. October 15th is the day and I am looking for a riding partner. Is anybody thinking of heading that way? Let me know.

Jesse

Heading to CR

Jesse,

I am in Modesto, California. My goal was to leave between Oct 28 - Nov 1, heading to Baja. I want to spend 1 week in La Paz studying spanish, then take the ferry to the mainland and head for Costa Rica and Panama. I am in the process of buying gear, copying documents, waiting for my title, etc.

Send me an email - tprata56@sbcglobal.net

Thanks,

Tom

Hey Guys

I am planning to leave from LA at the start of December, ride along part of historical route 66, drop into Mexico and do the Carribean side of the country and then ride down through Central America. THough that is just my thoughts at the moment - I have to do a bit more research.

It would be really nice to have someone to do the Central American borders with if you fancy meeting up in Southern Mexico.

Regards,
Annette

Tom,

It sounds like we are on a similar schedule. I am quite sure that I will be in your area before you are planning to leave but that doesn't mean that we can't meet up in Baja or somewhere else. Keep in touch once you are sure of your date and we will figure out when and where to meet and compare ideas. My email is jaceone@hotmail.com. By the way, what are you riding?

Talk soon
Jesse

Annette,

I am with you on the idea of company for the Central American borders. I am keeping the plan pretty loose with regards to where I will be when so I can't say for sure where I will be in December. I suggest that we keep in touch via e-mail (my address is jaceone@hotmail.com) and see where we might meet up closer to that date.

Talk to you soon
Jesse

Less than 4 weeks to go

Gidday guys,

No guessing where I'm from. A mate and I are flying our bikes, two 650 VStroms from home and we will be landing in LA on November 3.

We are staying there a couple of days to fit a couple of cheaper things to our bikes and then we are heading south for 4 months. So if you see us, say hello or should that be gidday. One is blue and the other is grey, the ABS model. :-)

Only joined the site recently, and like the tips you put on. So keep up the good work as I am a little concerned about all the border crossings, Police and military check-points, and the abundance of red tape that seems to be a way of life to the places we plan on riding into. Not used to this sort of thing back home, and we dont have any land borders to confuse things.

Never mind, it is the trip and not the destination that is important. Anyway, enough of that warm and fuzzy stuff.

Oh bye the way. Please accept my appologies for high-jacking your chat. Maybe just think of it as adding a little flavour.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
