2007 Alaska trip
In early june 2007 im planning on a 4 week ride from mpls mn to alaska and back again. My two riding buds cant go. one of them cant be gone that long and the other is afraid he'll get his bike dirty. To be honest my wife doesnt want me to go it alone. She isnt going as a long ride for her is back and forth to the dairy queen. I personally dont have an issue with going alone at all. So heres my question?? Is there anybody planning on such a ride or maybe a group of people. Personally im thinking of tenting it to keep costs under control. Give me a holler ifin yer interested. tom in mpls.

Well, I wont be able to take you up on your ride exactly, but we will be riding to Alaska in early june 2007. Hopefully if you can find some riding buddies we will meet up along the way. On june 2dn we will be in Red Deer Alberta, then we ride up to Prudhoe bay by the 6th and then back again. pending your timelines im sure our paths will cross. It would be cool to ride with you for some ways.

HI Tom, Well I might be into going along. I did the Alaska ride a couple of years ago and would be into hitting it up again. I did it on my KLR 650....what do you ride? Anyway i have a place in Homer I need to check on so I would ride to Prudhoe with you and then down the denali highway to homer on the Kenai peninsula to do a spot of fishing and check on my place, then bounce back home!! Let me know if you are into it.I am in Montana!!

North to Alaska
May be interested, I've just purchased a 650 Vstrom. I may head south to CA or North to Alaska. I live in Calgary, AB - right on your way from Minneapolis (I assume that what mpls means).

We can stay in touch as our plans develop and maybe we can go for a long ride. tom

Alaska on a Wing
Hi Tom,
My wife and I will be heading up to Alaska around May 25th. We are also on a wing and will be camping much of the time. We're in CA near SF. Our plan is to ride to Prince Rupert and take the ferry to Sitka and then Haines. From there we'll probably go to Denali. Maybe we can meet up on the way.

I will be traveling to Alaska at the end of May from Red Deer, Alberta returning the end of June. (I am in no hurry).
Ron Ayres of Ayres Adventures has an annual get together at Hyder, AK May 25 & 26 called Hyder Seek. Usually 150-200 riders.
Quite a few Iron Butt Association riders but also riders of all sorts. Check the website at ronayres.com. There is a list of riders signed up. You may find someone from your area heading to the event. Many people use this as a stepping off point for an Alaska trip.
Maybe we will see you at Hyder or on the road. Have a great trip.

Ken, I live in Juneau, rode via Haines to Denali, around and back last year, if you come on the ferry, you'll come through here, let me know if I can help with info, etc.
Check road conditions before you leave, we've had/have huge snowfall, but should be way better end of May.

2007 Alaska trip
I am also planning a trip to Alaska in June, '07. Leaving Lincoln, Nebraska around the first week of june and plan to follow my front tire to Prudhoe Bay. I rode the Alcan highway last june when I only had 13 days. it was way too short. This time I'm not going to let time or weather keep me from getting to Prudhoe. I was planning on going alone, but would like to have some company. i ride an '05 KLR650.

Alaska in June
Hi Tom. I am leaving Seattle on June 6th for a month or so in Alaska. I am taking the Ferry from Bellingham to Skagway and then riding to Anchorage-Denali-Arctic Circle-Dawson-and back to Seattle by the 4th of July. I have sold my KLR (bad move) for an F650. Hope to run into you along the way.
