Argentina Jan2008 going south then north..

Hi

Yes it is actually happening- with my bike (DL650) somewhere enroute from Perth, West Australia to Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Once I've got my air ticket finalised my plan is to get there around 8th of Jan, spending the first few (3?) weeks in BA doing a few final preparations and just easing my way in. (and hopefully picking up a spanish course..)

I don't have any definite plans but I'd love to be meet up and/or ride with others for parts of my journey. Roughly, over 7 or 8 months I plan to first head south to the bottom (Jan/FEb) and then up through Argentina/Chile. My ultimate aim is to make it all the way up through Central into North America, up into Canada by July/August.

I plan to be living fairly cheaply, though hopefully not having to get down to eating flies on toast...

So, if you live along the way I'd love to say hi or if I can meet and ride with some one or more people for part of the trip please let me know and I'll get in contact with you. I realise I haven't really given many specific details but can supply these as I go along.

Cheers,
Bruce.

arriving feb

Hey Bruce. I'll be leaving BA on Jan 30th on a transalp. Not sure where you'll be. gonna spend a few days in mendoza with some friends then heading south to tdf. Went last year but only made it as far as cohaique, chile. Travelling alone but wouldn't mind some company especially along the windy and desolate parts of southern patagonia. Keep me posted. Good Luck,
Robert

Hi Kev

I arrive in BA on the 8th of January so that might be a bit late for you..
However if you are still around I plan to be in BA for about 3 weeks so it would be great to catch up for a drink. I am still working out where I'm staying but I can let you know. What is the weather like there at the moment??

Sojourner,
Awesome. End of January fits in exactly with the time I plan to start heading south. Have you got a route planned out? Medoza is about 1000kms west of BA - is that correct? So I assume you might be going down the west side of Argentina... Are you or when do you plan to be in BA so we can work things out? Reply here or PM me.

Cheers
Bruce.

new time of arrival for bike....

hmmm
The new estimated time of arrival for my bike in BA is now 28th of Jan. That's 3 weeks later than the original. I HOPE it makes it by that time...
Oh well. Gives me more time to learn some more Spanish before I leave.

Bruce

Arriving BA 4th january

Hello folks,

I'm a 45 year old Norwegian arriving in BA midnight 3th January and am staying at Buenos Aires Wilton Hotel for at least the first four days. My bike is arriving at BA on Sunday and I’m tending to visit Dakar Motos and get them to prepare it for my journey. My plans are to first go south to Ushuaia and then north on the west cost after that. I am riding a 2005 F650GS Dakar. I would love to have some company, so please give me a note or ask for me at the Hotel so we could meet for a nice chat.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
