Around the Americas
Hello,
Just wanted to toss this out there and see who's interested. I'm planning on taking a trip around North and South America starting sometime around Apr/Jun '14, across the Trans-Canada Adventure Trail around, up to Prudhoe Bay, then down the Pacific coast to Ushuaia, and back up the Atlantic side through Brazil. I'm planning on the trip taking from 4-8 months, and would love to have company on any portion of the trip. Drop me a PM if you're interested. Cheers
-MOI

I'm hoping to be in America April time, starting in Florida or NY ... after paying the £700 to get my bike over there
Then I'm planning a fairly simple East to West journey hitting some of the national parks on my way. Be good to meet people on the route and maybe have a bit of company too.

Sounds like a nice trip, and we may end up crossing paths. I'll post more as the details get worked out.
Oh, and I may end up going up to Wyoming first. I've got an uncle who was an ice bike racing champ back in the 70's, and I'll be getting some training up there. I'm thinking I may end up heading clockwise around from there instead.

That sounds pretty awesome! Ice and bikes never went together in my mind ... until I saw pictures of people who mod the tyre and it just looks awesome!! I'll sub to this thread, happy planning!

Just as a quick update, my departure date is looking a bit more solid, around the first or second week of June, and I'll be heading north through Wyoming and Alberta to Deadhorse. I'm planning to link up with fxbonneville in Alberta, and going a fair ways down. We'd be happy to link up for a bit with folks who are so inclined.
Also, gave 3 weeks notice at work today. Can't believe it's getting this short.

Hey MOI,
Great that you're finally hitting the road, i am in exactly the same boat. I fly into Alaska on 14th June, pick up my bike there and will be heading up the Dalton Highway to Deadhorse, then all the way south as far as my cash, energy and work will permit. If i can make it to Argentina, then even better.
I will be heading down through Canada, across rockies on TransCanadian, then down into Montana, Wyoming, Idaho and south to the border and out.
If you're going to be around, then maybe we'll be crossing paths and can hit some tarmac together. Let me know
Neil

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
