Around and through Australia - Winter 2012
Hi,
I am in the early stages of planning a trip around Australia and through the centre, primarily following various outback tracks.
I have not set a specific agenda, but would be interested in doing some or all of the journey with one or two others.
I am not a hard core motorcylists. I rode bikes a lot when I was younger and now I am in my 40s I am just getting back into it.
I live in NZ and would be especially keen on someone from NZ to share some of the planning and logistics, but happy with anyone. I will be taking my own bike over, just purchased a DR650 that has been well prepared for such a trip.
At this stage I expect to take 2-3 months, but no specific time or route is set.
Please be in touch if you think you may like to take part in this adventure.
Ivan

Hi Ivan,
I am planning for around August-September 2012. Would most likely start and finish in Sydney I think.
Where would you be coming from?

Hi, Ivan, approaches me the end of February - the beginning of March more, for August-September for the present did not plan. In Russia it is now cold, it would be desirable in heat.

Hi,
The weather in New Zealand at this time of year is generally pretty good. Mainly fine weather and temperatures of between 20-25c. There is always some rain in NZ any time of year.
Now would not be a good time to good to the Australian outback. It is much better in Winter (June-Sep) when the temperatures in the deserts are cooler.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
