Bartang Valley, BAM, Old Summer Road 2020

What it says on the tin.

I am planning to travel from west to east from the UK to Magadan next year. I will aim for the Old Summer Road mid-late July/early August. It would be great to have some company for these sections.

I plan on riding a modified DRZ. Riding partner must be entirely self sufficient, capable off road and good at drinking !

Cheers,

George

My ride will start first of July from southern part of Germany up to Magadan.
Will not do the Stans. Done BAM + Magadan in 2014, Vilyuysky Trakt (Mirny-Yakutsk) in 2016. Failed 2 times on OSR. Unfinished buisiness. Bike will be either CRF450L or trusty 640 ADV.
Been in Stoke last saturday and bought some bikes at the local Suzuki dealer for export. There might be another trip up this autumn. Cheers - Uwe

I'll be starting from UK at the beginning of May 2020 heading through N Germany and Poland to Ukraine. Thence to Russia (Volgograd) and along the Trans-Siberian Highway to Ulan-Ude, where I will head south into Mongolia and the Altai, back up then down through Kazakhstan, Wakhan, the Pamirs and Silk Road. Competent rider and drinker.

Don't know if that works for you, or if it rings a bell for anybody else looking for a riding/drinking buddy?

The Old Summer Road is high priority for me, if you're leaving July it sounds like our time of arrival for OSR will be similar. If you do visit Stoke again, then let me know george_mounsey_1995@hotmail.com Maybe we can meet and hatch a plan if it feels right! Thanks for the response!

Hey Des,

Seems like we're planning on leaving at similar times, but that you'll be coming the other way through the Stans! Obviously if we cross paths then it would be good to spend some time sharing stories!

Cheers

I will be leaving Portugal around mid-April to ride to Magadan via the stans (not first time) and then ride to Vlad. Most of my riding will be offroad if this suits anyone LMK

Seems like our timing could align pretty well as I will be leaving the UK around the same time with a pretty similar route! Keep us updated.

Hello everyone,
I canceled this trip last year and I do not cancel it anymore this year! ! ! !

Here is my plan:
I will leave my home in the south of France to take the road BAM & OS to Magadan, with my Suzuki 650DR that I prepare. I start at the beginning of June, cross Europe, and after, I don't know exactly but, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kirjkistan, Kazakstan, Russia and Mongolia, BAM and ROS
I plan to come back in 3 months, but I will start with the BAM rod in July.

I would also be very interested to make this difficult route with one or more partners in July / August 2020.

If you are interested, let me know,

Keep in touch
Jack

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
