Belgium to Mongolia
Hello,
In May 2022 I will head east by motorbike with the aim to reach the Naadam Festival in Ulaanbaatar. Leaving Belgium behind soon, I will cross Eastern Europe, Turkey, Russia, drive through the Stans, Mongolia and the Gobi Desert.
If anyone wants to join me from Belgium or on the road, you're most welcome!
Greetz,
fré

Hi Fre. How did you get a Russian visa? Also planning a trip (from June) and have been hearing entry to Russia is almost impossible at the moment. Hopefully you can tell me I'm wrong.
Cheers.

Eastern Europe and Turkey will be a blast but Russia will be impossible this year. Probably next year as well... Enjoy the trip and ride safe

Hi,
I have no idea if its the right website, but here it's said lots of EU countries are ok for a visa:
https://evisa.kdmid.ru/
I just google russian visa and it's the 1th website that pops up, so might be completely wrong or outdated

Ratte. Just clicked on that link and there is a big yellow banner at the top of the page saying that "the processing and issuance of visas of all categories to foreign citizens has been temporarily suspended....."

Ahahah... I didn't understand the webpage buildup then.
Because below it says which countries can apply... OK the banner must be the latest info then

The visa rules that applied were for air travellers, not overland. It may have changed - things tend to change pretty rapidly these days - but as far as I know *land* borders are still closed.

Looking at the Russian visa/land borders situation myself, as may have 6 months to play with this year.
Has anyone seen any dates for when Russia's current arrangements might be reviewed? For example, I know that the Azeri border regs are due to expire 01/03/22.
Certainly would make sense that things might start to open up again in the spring, but that might be wishful thinking on my part.

Depends if we are at war with Russia over Ukraine, I suppose.

The workaround is to ship your bike across the border.
