China Guide Share October 2016 - Laos to Russia
Hey guys, we are an Australian couple who are planning to drive from Thailand to Europe Overland in a small 4x4 in October. Unfortunately due to the Bureaucracy between countries - We were unable to obtain a Carnet De Passage to be able to drive our Thailand registered car through Myanmar - India - Pakistan route, So we are now having to resort to going the western route through China.
We are planning to enter China from Laos at the Mohan- Mengla border crossing around October 7 2016, and exiting at the Chinese Russian border crossing (Manzhouli - Blagoveshchensk) on October 22nd 2016.
We are in communications with NAVO Tour Company who have made us up a rough itinerary that covers the trip in about 2 weeks with minimal sight seeing and driving on average 550km - 600km a day, as we would like to get across as quickly and cheaply as possible.
We are seeking any one else to join our convoy either for the full trip or part there of and help share costs - these costs include the guide, all the paperwork and driver licence's + number plates, and border/custom paperworks etc.
for more information - please email me:

To early for us
Hi Linden & Fi,
We are also wanting to do similar trip but in May 2017, it is a great shame that our dates are so far apart as we would also like to get across China as quickly as possible.
About a Carnet, we were in contact with the Malasian Auto Club that told us that they were prepared to issue a carnet for our Thai car but when I told them that the car was registered in the UK they then could not help. So if you are still wanting to go your other route you could try them, their contact details are as follows.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
