Hiya Mike,
I am also headed that way but will be through your area around the 23rd or 24th of June. I figure that is too late for you but thought I would give it a try.
I was planning on picking up some new tires before hitting Mexico and wondered if you knew the shop in Tucson Iron Horse?
Thanks, Ciao Susan

I was just talking to John, the owner of Ironhorse a couple of weeks ago - they're delighted to help us travellers out, and have lots of GS and travel stuff. Let him know we sent you!

Hey Mike,
Small world. Soldatna, huh... What were you doing there? Isn't it a little hot in Arizona?
Glad to hear that there is at least a possibility that you can delay your plans. I'll keep in touch and let you know when I am getting close to your part of the country. Lots of things can happen on the road as you know. So, no worries.
When do you plan to get to Costa Rica?
By the way, I am on a F650 and like to camp.
Ciao for now,
Susan

Hi Susan, used too build Loghomes, worked for Company called Logsmith of Alaska.I'm taking 6month off,so a week or two does not make any difference too me.Flagstaff is in High Elevation,so its really nice here in the Summer.Once you get close,we'll make Arrangement too meet at the Vistitor center here in town.Flagstaff has everything you need,Motorcyclestores,Campingstores etc.in case you need anything.Enough for now, keep in touch and keep the Rubberside down.
PS, Homer used too be my favorite town in Alaska, named my dog after it.

Hey Grant,
It was nice meeting you in Death Valley. The guys from IronHorse seemed nice. I bought the "Motorcycle touring in Northern Mexico" book from them in Death Valley.

Hiya Mike,
Homer is a great town, just a hard one to make a decent living in. Do you still have the dog?
Your plan sounds great. I'll email you when I hit the Montana boarder to give you some idea of when I should be coming down. Could you tell me the name of a shop in Flagstaff that would carry Metzler tires. I would like to order a set before I leave here. One less thing to worry about.
You say you have 6 months off. Lucky. Are you planning on riding back to Az in that time as well? Unfortunately I don't have that much time. I have to be in Panama city during the first part of the first week in August...the 3rd or the 4th. I've got a rough itinerary that I can email to you if you want.
If the route seems too rushed for you, no worries, just let me know.
Ciao,
Susan

Hi Susan, the shop where you can get Metzler tires is called "Flagstaff Motorsports" #928 773 7930 you can either put them on yourself right there or they will do it for you. They will have too order them, takes about a week.
Let me know your Itinerary, because unlike you ,I don't have too be anywhere at a certain time.Once I get too Costa Rica I was going too rent a Cabana by the Beach and Vacation for a while. After that who knows.Keep in touch. Michael PS, Lost the dog and the Pick up Truck.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
