Europe to South Africa - May 2013

Hi Guys and Girls,

I know the schedule is tight, but I am considering setting off from Poland to South Africa through the West Coast at the beginning of May on a motorcycle (Suzuki DR650SE), I suppose it will take 1,5 - 3 months, depending on the conditions and free time. I am looking to team up with some other travellers.

I am 30 y.o. male and have been to Africa a few times before - but mostly to the Eastern and Southern parts. I have travelled from Morocco to South Africa on local transport through the East Coast. I am used to the local conditions and plan to camp in wild whenever possible. I am also a non-complaining type of person, which might be a crucial virtue for this kind of trip

If you would like to join please feel free to contact me - I will be happy to have company, even for some parts of the route.

Best regards!
Szymon

Hi Thomas!

Good luck with your trip! I am setting off this Thursday and will be in a hurry to get to DRC and Angola until my visas expire :-)

Lucky you! 3 months is all I can afford and organize at the moment. Still better than staying home :-) The good thing is that because I have to hurry to enter Angola because of the visa, I will have more time to enjoy Angola and Namibia.

Travel safe!

We drove the west coast at the end of 2012, with a two month timeframe.

Trans-Africa

Maybe the information provided there help you for planning your own daily progress.

We drove by car - and the timeframe was enough (more is always better).

But I dont know how many km you can ride with a bike a day, without to be stressed and so on..

Thanks. It seems that I will be pretty much following your route :-) I have the same initial route planned to reach SA. I will go through your trip report.

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
